Abstract

The aim of this case report is to present a keratocystic odontogenic tumor (KCOT) mimicking lateral periodontal cyst. A 45-year-old female patient showed a well-defined radiolucent lesion between the roots of the left second premolar and left first molar. The clinical and radiographic features lead us to diagnose a lateral periodontal cyst that was treated by enucleation with curettage. Histological evaluation showed typical histological features of KCOT. The clinical findings and the radiological features are not distinctive enough to give a diagnosis of any bone lesion occurring in the maxillofacial area. Therefore, histopathological evaluation is required for definitive diagnosis.
